My Education

I did PhD in Public Health from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, where I was honoured with the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Thesis of the Year. My doctoral research focused on health systems and policy responses to burn care in India, addressing critical gaps in national preparedness and care delivery.

I completed my Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Community Medicine from the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), Wardha, India. My MD thesis evaluated the quality monitoring of Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) and Life Saving Anaesthesia Skills (LSAS) training programs across nine Indian states, contributing to the evidence base for maternal health capacity-building initiatives.

In addition, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Maternal and Child Health and completed a fellowship in health policy analysis with distinction at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium.

My journey in medicine began with an MBBS from MGIMS, Sewagram, India’s first rural medical institute, established by Mahatma Gandhi. This experience grounded my commitment to equitable, rural-focused public health systems.

I completed my high school and primary education in government-run schools in a rural area in a remote part of Bihar, India.
